Paints Me Pink
This pattern is no longer for sale.
There is a low vision format available. 22 pt font, verdana text with no italics.
Dedicated to Nana. We miss you.
Introduction
Nana had a saying whenever we would go out shopping: “Whatever paints you pink.” The first memory that I have of her saying this to me was when we were at the mall.
She said, “find something that paints you pink.”
I was really confused at the time, but now I understand her saying. If something “paints you pink” that means that it makes you happy or brings you joy. It suits you.
As I began working on this design that was originally going to be named after a mythical horse hybrid, I couldn’t help but think of my Nana with every stitch. I found that this hat really “paints me pink,” and I hope that it paints you pink too.
Construction
Worked in the round, bottom-up this hat will keep you entertained with every row. A mix of braided 3x3 cables, braided 1x1 cables, popcorn bobbles, as well as a very interesting crown make for a very fun knit hat.
Stitch Gauge
1 Chart Repeat (24 sts x 8 rows. See page 3) = 5 in / 12.5 cm wide and 1.25 in / 3 cm tall with yarns held together on Size A N eedles knit in the round after wet blocking.
Sizing
This hat is written for one size, but can fit an older child (17 in / 43 cm circumference) to an adult medium head (20 in / 51cm circumference). Depending on how you block it, you can get many different fits. If you would like to make the pattern to fit a large adult head, use a DK weight yarn in place of the sport weight yarn and go up a needle size or two.
