Paisley sweater
This sweater was inspired by the lovely stitch-pattern used for my tested pattern:
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paisley-baby-car...
I knit it during the summer-months and was longing to start wearing it later on when the weather was cooler.
Now it has become a true favourite!
The pattern is tested by a group of talented knitters (list at the bottom of these notes).
Construction
The sleeves and lower body of the sweater is worked bottom-up and in the round to underarms, from where the pieces are joined.
The upper body is shaped by raglan-decreases.
The neckline is worked from picked-up and knit sts.
The construction of the sweater is seamless.
Design
The beauty of this classic sweater lies in the stitch-pattern of the front and also the deep cuffs, the puff sleeves and the slightly deeper crew-neck. The fit is great and I think this sweater is a garment to wear for years and years to come.
Sizes
Finished chest measurements, after washing and blocking and worked at gauge: 82/94/105/116/127/139/150 cm = 32/37/41/45/50/55/59”. The sample is worked in size 94 cm/37”, with approximately 10 cm/4” of positive ease.
Materials
Yarn: I recommend that you use a fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge. I used Martin Labs fingering weight yarn, Tibetan Singles, in the colourway Admiral. This yarn comes in skeins of 120 gr/4.23 oz and 480 m/525 yards. Of this specific yarn you will need 1000/1150/1250/1350/1500/1650/1800 m = 1090/1255/1365/1475/1635/1800/1965 yards. Needles: a circular needle size 3 mm/US2.5, 80 – 120 cm/32 – 48” long (depending on the size you are working) for the lower and upper body. A set of DPNS size 3 mm/US2.5 (or a circular needle if working the magic loop) to work the sleeves. A circular needle 40 cm/16” to work the neckline. Notions: 4 removable stitch-markers, a cable needle, waste yarn (for the underarm sts), blunt tapestry needle, blocking tools.
A tape measure and a pair of scissors. A row-counter is always useful.
Gauge
28 sts and 38-40 sts in stockinette sts and also the stitch-pattern = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.
