Pakus is a big big shawl, thick and warm, knit with DK thread. It is made of succession of garter stitch and bicolore brioch stitch sections.
Totally reversible, you can play with colors (and use those precious DK leftovers you keep in your secret drawer, because, yes, it only uses a few yardage per contrasting color, so fun and convenient :p) and sections as every other brioche section is “reversed” (CC on the top, MC on the next).

For information, the shawl on pictures measured 280x60 cm before wet blocking and 300x70 cm after (really light wet blocking, flat on the ground, no stretching).

It is worked from side to side, with a triangular and asymetrical shape.
This is the perfect winter shawl for shilly weather ;) .

Each technique used in this pattern has a video link. Those videos are in French, but easily understandable just by watching.

This is a “special beginner with brioche stitch” pattern. Brioche sections are illustrated with video tutorials I made especially for the pattern. The videos are in French but totally understandable with pictures only.

Material :

• Thread : DK.
MC (main color) : between 610 and 650 meters (650 and 710 yd) (garter stitch sections). 4 CC (contrasting color) : CC1 : 20 meters (22 yd), CC2 : 30 meters (33 yd), CC3 : 40 meters (44 yd), CC4 : 50 meters (55 yd). Around 800 meters (875 yd) in total.
• Circular needles, 4,5 mm (or the size needed according to gauge). Be aware, you need at least a pair of circular needles for brioche stitch sections.

Gauge :
14 st x 30 r (ou 15 ribs of garter stitch) = 10 x10 cm in garter stitch, washed, blocked and dry.
You have to respect this gauge if you want to obtain the same size as the original sample.

Pakus est un châle épais et chaud, en DK. Il est composé d’une succession de sections en point mousse et en point brioche bicolore (appelé aussi côtes anglaises).

Totalement réversible, vous pourrez jouez avec les couleurs (et utiliser ces précieux restes de DK cachés au fond de votre stash, car oui, on n’utilise que peu de métrage par couleur contrastante, pratique non ?) mais aussi avec les sections puisqu’une section sur deux de brioche est inversée (CC sur le dessus, CP pour la section suivante, etc).

A titre informatif, le châle présenté sur la photo avant blocage faisait 2m80 x 60 cm, après un très léger blocage (juste posé à plat et épinglé vaguement) 3m x 70 cm.

Il se travaille d’une pointe à l’autre et est de forme triangulaire mais asymétrique.
C’est un châle parfait pour l’hiver, grand froid compatible. ;)

Ce modèle est parfait pour les débutants au point brioche. Les sections de point brioche bénéficient de vidéos spéciales et détaillées faites spécialement pour ce patron.

Matériel :

CP (couleur principale) : entre 610 et 650 m (sections de point mousse). 4 CC (couleur secondaire) réparties ainsi : CC1 : 20 m, CC2 : 30 m, CC3 : 40 m, CC4 : 50 m. Soit environ 800 m au total.
• Aiguilles circulaires 4,5 mm (ou la taille nécessaire pour obtenir l’échantillon). Il est nécéssaire d’utiliser une paire de circulaire ou de grandes doubles pointes pour les sections de point brioche .

Échantillon :
14 m x 30 rg (ou 15 arêtes de point mousse) = pour 10x10 cm en point mousse, lavé, bloqué et sec.
Il est très important de respecter cet échantillon si vous voulez obtenir la même taille que le modèle original.
