Palace Socks
Inspired by the tiled floors at the 16th century El Badii Palace in Marrakech. Commissioned by the sultan Ahmad al-Mansur of the Saadian dynasty, it was a lavish display of the best craftmanship of this period using some of the most expensive materials of that time such as gold and onyx. Now in ruins, but still large parts of the basins and floors remains to be viewed and especially the black and white with turquoise borders are my favourites.
Yarn kit from Vickevira, or fingering weight sock yarns as follows
Turquoise – 40 g / 160 m
Black – 40 g / 160 m
White – 20 g / 80 m
as part of a collection
