Palm Branch
The palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life.
This is a semicircle-shaped lace shawl (or 5/8 of a circle) knitted from the center back of the neck down to the border.
The pattern includes charts and detailed chart notes; no row by row written instructions included.
Only charts.
Skill levels: from intermediate to advanced.
Shape: half-circle (DESIGN A) / 5/8 of a circle (DESIGN B)
DESIGN B will require approximately 20% more yarn than the semicircle-shaped shawl.
Size: adjustable
You can easily enlarge the size of your shawl by repeating Rows 93–96 one or two more times (in other words, having worked 4 or 8 extra rows).
Yarn: It is strongly recommended to use either natural fiber yarn (linen, cotton, wool, and silk) or yarn with a minimum synthetic content; approx. 400–800 m (437–875 yds) per 100 g.
The sample shown has been worked with Aade Lõng Artistic 8/1 Yarn (100% wool; 800 m (875 yds)/100 g).
The sample (DESIGN A) has required 1000 m (1094 yds) / 125 g of yarn. 512 beads have been used; size 8/0.
Finished Measurements: 165 cm (65 inches) wingspan and 85 cm (33½ inches) deep, relaxed after blocking.
Tools & Notions:
Size 2.75 mm (US 2) circular needles;
Size 2.0 mm crochet hook for binding off (as also for provisional cast on);
Size 0.5 mm crochet hook for placing beads;
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn;
Size 8/0 seed beads.
Gauge is not important for this project. Finished size and yarn consumption will depend on yarn choice, needle size and your individual manner of knitting
.
