You can make it a little longer for a more slouchy look or follow the pattern to create a cute winter hat. The tubular 2 x 2 rib cast on has tutorials on the internet.
My daughter asked for a simple cable hat and I designed this inspired by a blanket I was working on. Fairly easy and great fit.
In the future I will update with the child’s version as well.
I used grey marl Bernat Softee Baby yarn and loved the look.
You will need 16” needles and dpns in sz 8 as the crown decreases get tight near the top.

Pattern correction should read 132 stitches not 130.
