Pan is an ankle high sock pattern worked cuff down. The socks are shaped to hide especially well in shoes, but they make great summer shorties in general. The pattern features an adaption of french heel and gusset. The instructions are written for magic loop technique on a long circular needle, but you can also work them on dpns.

Size:
One size (64 sts).

Finished circumference: 6.7 ” / 17 cm. Note, that the socks are meant to be snug to stay on properly.

Yarn:
Schoppel Wolle Admiral Hanf (67 % wool, 23 % polyamide, 10 % hemp, 420 m / 100 g) or other fingering weight sock yarn. I recommend a yarn with a tougher wool that holds it shape well.

Shown in 2379_ Silky black.

1 skein (less than 50 grams).
The required yardage depends on the length of the foot.

Needles:
2,25 mm (US 1) - 32” / 80 cm circular needle for magic loop (or dpns if you prefer). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge. If you tend to knit ribbing looser than stockinette, I recommend using a smaller needle for the ribbed part.

Gauge:
19 sts x 28 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in stockinette
worked in the round (after blocking).

Others:
3 stitch markers, a tapestry needle
