The Pan cadigan is a classic ribbed cardigan with a slightly cropped boxy fit and dropped shoulders. The cardigan is worked in Half brioche rib from bottom up. The sleeves are picked up from the body and worked in the round towards the cuffs.

The cardigan is knitted holding one strand of fingering weight together with a strand of lace weight silk mohair. The button band is knitted using only the fingering yarn, but holding it double. You can either pick the fingering weight yarn and the silk mohair yarn that have the same colorway, or choose yarns that have a bit of contrast, which makes the button band slightly more visible.

The Pan cardigan is named after Peter Pan. I knitted my first version of this cardigan a few years ago in a khaki green color which reminded me of something Peter Pan would wear, and the name just stuck.

Note: The pullover uses a strand of fingering weight yarn held together with a strand of lace weight yarn, but they can be substituted for a single strand of DK weight yarn. If you wish to work a DK weight version, omit all the instructions where it says “hold the yarns together” and follow only the yarn amount requirements for the fingering weight yarn.

5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9) skeins of Knitting for Olive Merino (100% merino; 250 meters / 273 yards per 50 g) shown in the colorway Hazelnut or 1050 (1150, 1275, 1400, 1550, 1700, 1875, 2050) m / 1150 (1275, 1400, 1525, 1700, 1850, 2050, 2250) yards of similar fingering weight yarn.
