Panda
With a simple diet of bamboo, the rare and endangered giant panda lives in China. In the 1970s China used the panda as a diplomatic tool, giving them to Western zoos; this has now stopped but the Chinese still loan pandas to the West. Chi Chi was a star attraction at London Zoo until her death in 1972, and was the inspiration for the World Wildlife Fund logo. The panda is so adored that a themed hotel, offering everything panda, has opened in Sichuan Province in China.
