Panda Bear
Meet cutest Panda Bear ever. They’re cute, cuddly, easy to hold and very, very lovable. This pattern supplies directions for making our Panda Bear stuffie as well as an optional bamboo stalk for your panda bear to hold.
This Panda Bear is suitable for intermediate level knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches, short rows, i-cord and standard knitting terms. Our Panda Bear is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.
If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 35 m of medium weight black (B) coloured yarn and 25 m of medium weight white (W) coloured yarn. If you knit the optional bamboo, you will need approximately 7 m of medium weight green (G) coloured yarn. With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need stuffing (we use polyfil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your panda bear together. This will let you create a panda bear that’s approximately 18 cm (7 inches) in height.
The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
