Pansy Square
Description: (from the book) We may have come a long way, Baby, but we still haven’t created handmade crocheted pieces any more breathtaking than this pansy square design. The antique original, shown on this page, was made in size 30 crochet thread; however we are not inclined to make anything that fine, so we have recreated it using materials which are readily available to us today. The flowers and leaves are crocheted with 6-strand embroidery floss and the beige background is size 10 crochet thread.
Materials: Bedspread-weight crochet cotton, Embroidery bloss, 10 skeins each, floral colors of your choice; 4 skeins shaded greens
Pattern Stitches: Double Triple Crochet (dtrc), Cluster (CL)
Pattern starts on page 61 of Crochet Yearbook.
Pattern starts on page 12 of Floral Crochet, where it is listed as the “Pansy Spread.”
