The Pansyland Cowl is knit in the round with worsted weight yarn. Development of this pattern was a collaboration with the talented indie dyer Allison Barnes. The cowl shape is essentially a tall tube with an optional shaped neckline that is slightly tapered to be a bit taller in the back.

Pansyland is all about spring (although it’s perfectly okay to knit and wear it during other seasons as well). Spring is flowery, but sometimes kind of dreary, rainy, or snowy. Brrr. This cowl is the best of both worlds: it will brighten your day and sooth you with that woolly Snuggle Factor.

The textured stitch is created using a simple twist stitch technique. A short video tutorial is available here. This is actually a fairly simple technique. Please don’t be deterred if you have not tried it before. You can do this!!!

The pattern includes an option for a gently tapered neckline that is achieved through short rows. If short rows are not for you, or if you simply prefer a standard cowl shape, simply omit the short row section as directed in the pattern.
