Panthalassa.
Panthalassa is a long, sinuous triangle shawl. It features an easy yet engaging lace motif and multidirectional construction to show off a gradient yarn. And it knits up in a single skein, which is pretty wild for the results! (It looked small before blocking, but ended up a good size. I’m stoked about it. It’s a good return on the yarn investment.)
Materials are very simple for this one! All you really need is a long circular needle in the size you need for gauge, and a 440yd-ish skein of sockweight, shawl-friendly yarn. A soft wool or wool-heavy blend will probably block best.
The featured sample is made from Cascade Yarns Heritage Wave in Tropical (508).
Materials:
- 437 yards or 1 skein of Cascade Yarns Heritage Wave, shown in Tropical (508) colorway
- 1 48” circular needle in US3-5/3.25-3.75mm, or size needed for gauge.
- Tapestry needle Optional: removable stitch markers, if it helps you keep track of repeats, etc.
Gauge:
Gauge is 24 sts and 36 rows over 4”/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat and blocked.
