The “Papa Fedora” was designed as part of the 2023 #CrochetCancerChallenge event hosted by SweetPotato3. I designed it in memory of my sweet Father-in-Law, who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. My family called him “Papa” and he always looked dashing in the fedora that he would wear to church on Sunday mornings in the winter. What better way to remember him than to design a unisex fedora!!

Part of Papa Fedora’s charm is its seamless flow in a spiral pattern rather than joining at the end of each round. Unique placement of stitches create a beautiful texture that is just firm enough to hold its shape without being stiff, and it’s perfect for adding a little flair to the wardrobe of anyone wanting to spiff up their look. Despite the name, it is a unisex fedora.

Materials
➤Yarn: #4/Worsted Weight (I used Mary Maxim Starlette Tweed.)
NOTE: This pattern works up best with a thicker #4 weight yarn or downsizing from recommended hook size.
➤Yardage: 150 - 175 yds
➤Hooks: 5.5 mm (brim) & 6.0 mm (body)
➤OPTIONAL: ~45” floral wire
