Papula is an easy top-down sweater with short sleeves and is totally seamless. The collar is shaped with some short rows to create a better fit on the neck. It also is very flattering to your body as it has some decreases to mark your waist and an a-shape construction for the hem.

Papula is knitted in stockinette and has only knit stitches. You do not need to purl at all! This is thanks to the clever construction of all the edges which keep them from rolling and create a similar border on the hem, sleeves and collar. The minimal decoration will also allow you to have a discreet play with small nupps.

I have used this construction for many sweaters now, improving the system as I go. I can guarantee that it will make a most wearable everyday garment. With the short sleeves, it is perfect for layering with the cardigan of your choice. Many friends have asked for the pattern during the years, so here you finally have it!

Materials

Yarn: Les Petits Points Parisiens Basique DK (100g = 250 m, 100% merino SW) 3,3,3,3,(4),4,5 skeins in colourway La pluie d’eté specles and 1,1,1,1,(1)1,1 skeins of La pluie d’eté.

The sample pictured is knit in size XL with 0-2,5 cm of positive ease.

Needles size 3,5: 80 cm and 40 cm circulars.
Tapestry needle.
Waste yarn or stitch holders.
Stitch markers.

Gauge and sizes

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm in stockinette with 3,5 mm needles. Please make a swatch, block it and select a suitable needle size to get the right gauge.
