I named this after the Parakeet which it is a wonderful companion bird just like this bag will be!

Multi strand knitting allows you to create your own unique fabrics expressing yarns in a new way. This bag is designed to make the most combining multiple strands of yarn. Let your imagination run wild. If you don’t have the weight yarn I recommend, don’t worry, simply add an additional strand. The bulkier the yarn used the smaller and more compact your bag will be.

If you don’t have the right size needles substitute with one slightly smaller or larger depending on how big you want your bag. Have fun, experiment. If you have only a little of a favorite yarn left, feature it near the upper edge or in the strap, if you run out of a yarn before the row I say adjust to your own taste.

I hope you have as much fun making these as I do. I’m now addicted!

You need 4 yarns for this pattern.

Yarns A & B are bulky.
Yarn C can be fingering to 8 ply and is a feature that you want to pop out in your design.
Yarn D is in the top edge of the bag and strap and is their for strength as well as look and that is why I recommend Hoooked XL but you can use anything strong and not too stretchy.

This bag makes a great gift and you can whip one up in a couple of evenings depending on how experience you are. This is a really great project for someone who wants to lean some new techniques such as picking up stitches along an edge, creating an i-cord or using a 3 needle bind off to connect two sections. Enjoy and be sure your post photos of your projects for everyone to enjoy.

Happy knitting, Woolly Wagtail.
