Parallelograms Knit Hat
This hat is made up of parallelograms placed side by side to form a chevron pattern. The chevrons seem to disappear into the crown as you decrease, making a spiral that looks like a pinwheel on top. It reminds me of a circus tent somehow and feels festive, but is also classic and reserved. You can do it in any combination of colors to get different effects, from bright and bold, to subdued and neutral. It’s very easy to knit because the colored sections are small and you don’t really need to catch floats if you don’t care to. I don’t.
I’ve included 4 charts with this pattern so it can be knit different ways. There are two with the pinwheel top and two with a plain top. There are charts with light color dominant and dark color dominant. I find it so much easier to work from a chart that shows the color scheme I am using than having to try and reverse the colors in my mind while I’m knitting. I think you will, too.
I generally use a soft wool or wool blend for my color work. I like Drops Extrafine Merino, Plymouth Encore DK, Kraemer Yarns Perfection DK, and Lion Brand Wool Ease. All work well for stranded color work and are still soft and wear well.
I LOVE seeing your work and the color combinations you choose! PLEASE send pictures! ❤️
