Paramore Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
by Layla Beech
This pattern makes a crocheted eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly, also known as the butterfly featured on the cover of Brand New Eyes by Paramore. There are instructions on how to add the blue ‘pins’ to make it look like the album artwork, or you can just leave it as is. The finished assembled product is approx. 10cm wide.
You will need:
- 8ply/DK/light worsted yarn in light orange and black
- Black embroidery floss
- Blue embroidery floss/2 x blue beads (if making brand new eyes cover)
- 3.25mm hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing together pieces
- Sewing needle for embroidering wings
Some extra notes!
- This pattern requires some embroidery. Embroidery on wings does not need to be exact, as long as it is similar it will give the effect of the veining of butterfly wings!
- The upper wings are not reversible and therefore have different patterns for the black borders for the left and right wings. The lower wings are reversible and use the same pattern for both the left and right wings.
- To make this butterfly look like the Brand New Eyes album cover, there are instructions on how to add the blue dots/beads for the pins (if you are making this option there is also no need to attach the wings to the body)
