Parasol of Skulls
For all the Goth, skull loving, sun hiding people, this is for you. This is a simple stitch, but large doily that can be crochet in any material to create a wonderful table doily, bed spread or what I wrote it for a parasol.
This piece was written to both work as a traditional crochet piece attached to the frame or to put on top of the umbrella so you can use it in the rain. Easy to put on and off that way. Also so it can be used on a table top in between for multiple uses. Oh and gawd forbid the umbrella breaks !! Now it can easily be put on and off.
If you will be using this as a parasol, create doily first then find the frame.
Find a frame 38 - 40 inches inch curve.
Size:Appr 84 cm/33 inches height,100 cm /40 inches diameter.
8 to 16 spokes
For this doily I used:
– About 900-1000 yards of cotton string (fingering yarn is best for parasol)
Size 3.25 mm / size D hook for parasol with fingering yarn (or hook that is suggested for the yarn you are using)
-About 800- 900 yards of cotton thread Size 10 cotton crochet thread if used for doily - size 1.65 hook for doily
Finished doily will be between 35 or larger in inches depending on if you use thread or fingering yarn.
