Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Spring 2009: “The Parker Cardigan playfully subverts the lace sweater concept: A dense eyelet bud lace hugs the waist, while a solid upper body has structured, clean lined drape. Deborah Newton includes tiny, subtle shoulder pads to create a high 1940s-influenced shoulder. A crisp organic cotton/linen gives the bud lace stitch pattern a deep embossed quality. A deep neckline feels grown-up when balances by full elbow sleeves.”

Finished Size: 38 (40½, 43½, 46½, 49)“ bust circumference. Sweater shown measures 38”, modeled with plenty of positive ease.

Yarn: Classic Elite Allegoro (70% organic cotton, 30% linen; 152 yd 139 m/50 g): #5619 lupine pink, 7 (8, 8, 9, 10) skeins.

Needles: Sweater—size 5 (3.75 mm). Shoulder pads—size 7 (4.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Removable markers (m); six ½“ buttons; tapestry needle.

Additional Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 4” in bud patt on smaller needles (based on number of sts on Row 1 of patt).

Note: When working bud-pattern swatch, end swatch with a Row 1.
