Partizan hat
Partizan trapper hat is worked bottom up. Work flat starting from ear flaps and folded brim (optional), then join all piece and work in the round. Then pick up sts along the edhes and work in 11 rib (or in stockinette), then graft stitches using Kitchener stitch. This tutorial includes instructions for the whole process for two designs of the hat – with folded brim and without it, and includes instructions for two patterns.
Yarn
1 strand of Merino Twist Cowgirlblues (150m/50g – 100% wool)+ 2 strands of Kidsilk Cowgirlblues (205m/25g - 70% kid-mohair, 30% silk) – held together;
Substitutes:
Merino DK Cowgirlblues (85m/50g – 100% wool) – single strand;
Drops Air (150m/50g - 65% alpaca, 28% polyamide, 7% wool) – single strand;
You can also use any yarn combo that will give you the right gauge and drape of the fabric.
Needles
Main: 4mm US 6 – circular needles with 40cm/16” cable;
Trimmings: 2.5mm US1.5 – circular needles with 60-80cm/24-32”cable.
Gauge
20 sts per 10 cm/4” in stockinette after blocking with main needles (base size – 4mm/US6).
Notions
Crochet hook, stitch markers, row counter (optional), waste yarn / stitch holders / spare needle cables, scissors, tapestry needle.
