Partners In Cashmere
Partners in Cashmere is a pattern that results in fingerless mitts that are nothing short of stylish. Using two colors, a slip stitch pattern that twists across thin stripes gives the mitts a fresh, modern look. Twisted stitches in the openings give the gloves some sturdiness. Originally knit with Shibui Drift (a super soft wool and cashmere blend), I had just enough yarn to make the mitts again, this time by reversing the colors. Make them for yourself and a friend and take on the town on a cold day!
MATERIALS:
Two skeins of Shibui Drift yarn (85% Extrafine Merino/15% Cashmere. 110 yards.)
• Color A (45 yards used): 2038 – Cove
• Color B (55 yards used): 2022 – Mineral
US 8 Double Pointed Needles, or circular needle if you prefer the Magic Loop Technique.
Two Stitch markers.
Tapestry Needle.
GAUGE AND MEASUREMENTS:
8” between wrist and knuckle opening.
8” in wrist circumference.
8 sts and 16 rows = 2” in stockinette stitch.
PATTERN NOTES: Read the pattern before beginning to familiarize yourself with the project. This project is one size, and fits a relatively small hand. If you wish to make the gloves bigger or smaller, I recommend using a heavier or lighter yarn with the appropriate needle size. No stitch marker was used in the pattern to indicate the beginning of the round, but you may use one if you wish. On DPN’s, the number of sts on each needle may change as you knit. Continuously make sure stitches are evenly distributed on needles. I used one full skein of each recommended yarn to make both pairs of gloves in the pictures, both shown in reversed colorways. I had about 10 yards left in each color, so check your gauge if you use the same yarn.
