This fun accessory was inspired by my love of celebrating birthdays, my own in particular. Who doesn’t love a little extra attention on your special day? With this hat, you’re sure to get it! Make this hat your own by choosing different yarns for the cake and icing “flavors”, add sequins, beads, or embroidery for sprinkles, embroider a special message across the top, the options are limitless.

This hat works up quickly using double stranded worsted weight yarn for the main elements. There is a fair bit of assembly, shaping, and not quite linear stitching required. As such, I would call this a strong intermediate pattern. A patient and determined advanced beginner may be fine, though.

Your purchase includes a written pattern and construction notes for an average adult size (22”) and child/small adult size (19.5”), photographs, and troubleshooting from me, should you need it.
