Party Dress
This dress features a dramatically full skirt and closely fitted bodice with a wide ballet neck and barely-there cap sleeves. The entire dress is decorated with wide bands of a lace pattern stitch.
The skirt and bodice are knitted separately then seamed at the sides, leaving an opening for a side zipper. The shoulders are seamed, then the bodice is joined to the skirt at the waist, gathering the skirt to fit the width of the bodice.
Elastic cinches the waist and adjusts the neckline. The dress is meant to be worn with a belt and includes a pattern for an optional knitted belt. A purchased belt in gold or silver leather may be worn in its place.
Materials:
28 (30, 32, 34) 1 oz. skeins of Botany Brand Bouclé
10” zipper for side opening
1 yard elastic (1” wide) for waist
1 yard grosgrain ribbon (for lining an optional knitted belt)
2 yards round elastic for neckline
The yarn may be a wool/rayon blend. Despite its name, it appears to be more like a creped yarn than a true bouclé. It’s probably quite similar to Bernat Bouclé de Laine.
