Parvati is the Hindu Goddess of weddings - perfect as I designed this for my brother-in-law’s wedding, and wore it to a second wedding a couple of months later - if you tie the ends together it’ll even stay on while Ceilidh dancing! Parvati will add a dash of elegance and glamour to any outfit, while the garter stitch body keeps you warm on the chilliest evening.

This triangular shawl has a warm a squishy garter stitch body knitted from the bottom up. Stitches are picked up from the side of the shawl and the lace border is then knit from the top down.

The silver shawl is knit in Eden Cottage Yarns Titus 4ply, and uses 510 yards of yarn. Details on how to increase the size of the shawl are included in the pattern.

The pattern includes both charts and written instructions for the lace edging, so however you like to read your patterns, you’re covered! The pattern has been tech edited and test knitted. There’s a screenshot of the pattern and a list of the stitches used at the bottom of the photos. These additional techniques are used: picking up stitches.

Materials

• 400m (437 yds) of Fyberspates Scrumptious Sock (55% merino/45% silk, 437 yds/100g) in Aubergine or Eden Cottage Yarns Titus 4ply (70% merino/30% silk, 437 yds/100g) in Steel
• 4mm (US 6) circular needles, 32” or longer
• 2 Stitch markers
• 1 Locking stitch marker/safety pin (optional)
• Yarn needle for sewing in ends
• Blocking mat and pins

Gauge

16 stitches and 31 rows in 10cm (4 inches) in garter stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not essential, but will have a big effect the amount of yarn used, as well as effecting the finished size of the shawl.

Finished Size

137cm long by 67cm deep (54” by 26”) after blocking.
