Pascal
As Rapunzel’s nonverbal yet highly expressive companion and friend in Tangled (2010), Pascal the chameleon lets his friend use him as a mannequin, helps with chores, plays endless hide-and-seek (which he is surprisingly bad at considering he can blend in with any background), and watches over Rapunzel through thick and thin. Encouraging her to escape the tower and staying beside her when she does so, Pascal is a tiny force to be reckoned with. His color changes according to his mood, and his trust is not easily won. Pascal also assists Rapunzel in her final bid for freedom, helping her to defeat Mother Gothel so she may finally rejoin her family.
With his body and tail knit in the round and all in one piece, Pascal’s back and belly are shaped with simple wrap-and-turn short rows. A variation of a double decrease creates his bumpy spine with added intarsia striping detail. After stuffing his body and rolling up and seaming his curly tail, stitches are picked up at the neckline to work his head flat in two pieces. I-cord is used to make his tail, legs, toes, and ridges around the eyes. Once completed, the pieces are seamed together to form his mouth, and felt or safety eyes are added to finish him. Knit Pascal in his original green, or chose another color like purple to make him blend into his surroundings.
