Cascade Heritage is a lovely yarn with which to work, very soft to touch; it drapes beautifully. The passion flower color is a muted purple heather. Any soft fingering weight yarn could be used to make this shawl.
The stole begins with a trapezoidal back, worked from the neck to bottom. Shaping increases on the back occur every 4th row. Then stitches are picked up along each side edge so that the wings of the shawl can be knitted.
A lace pattern runs horizontally on the back. The same lace pattern is then carried over to the wings. Both written out instructions and a graph for the lace are included with the pattern.
The shawl measures about six feet or 2 meters across the bottom. A schematic of the exact measurements are included with the pattern.
Each lace pattern repeat adds 2”/5cm in width and 1/5”/3.8cm in length. If you wish, more repeats can be added to increase the width and/or the length. After the pattern as written was knitted, there was very little remaining of the third skein. Therefore if your gauge varies or if you wish to increase the size, the purchase of a fourth skein of yarn is recommended.
