Passionista
SPECIAL OFFER - GET ONE FREE! - Add five patterns, including collections/ebooks (each collection/ebook counts as one pattern), from my Ravelry Store in one single transaction and get the least expensive one free.
Please Note that this will not work in conjunction with any other promotion.
Passionista is the first pattern of The Gorgeousness Collection! Purchasing the collection as an ebook will be more economical than buying the patterns individually and is the only way to get the pattern that is exclusive to the collection. Please see the lower box to the right for the ‘collection’ purchase option.
Passionista is a crescent shaped shawl worked from the top down. Full of passion and lace, the pretty main body is a repeatable pattern so you can customise the size of your shawl. The pattern gives the choice of either beading or not beading the body. Either way, the body evolves seamlessly into the lace border which has been written so that the shawl can be bound off after any right-side row in the final Chart enabling you to use as much of a gradient yarn as possible.
REQUIREMENTS
Yarn and Finished Dimensions: As written, approximately, 72” (184cm) wide, 17” (43cm) deep before blocking and approximately, 74” (190cm) wide, 20.5” (52cm) deep after. These figures are a guide only and the overall size will depend on your exact tension and blocking. Measurements taken using Posh Yarns Robynn Heavy Lace 600m/100g though this pattern is suitable for most solid coloured, or semi-solid, laceweight yarns of around 600 – 800m/100g with the exception of alpaca based and other yarns that will not hold a block well. Specified yarns include: - Posh Yarns Robynn Heavy Lace, Natural Born Dyers Lorbanery, PookGB Pure Silk Heavy Lace, Green Tea Yarns Pekoe Heavy Lace (all same base). Other suitable yarns are DyeDianaDye FlaxenSilk Lace, Miss Babs Yearning, Miss Babs Dulcinea, Skein Queen Delectable. The following yarns will be suitable but it might be prudent to have a spare skein as a safety net: - Natural Born Dyers Lustrous Myrka, Lichtfaden Meridian, Lichtfaden Rei Lace, Green Tea Yarns Ginseng HL.
Circular Needles: 3.25mm (US3), 3.5mm (US4) and 3.75mm (US5) about 1m in length or needles to create a pleasing fabric – your fabric should not be too dense and should have good drape.
You will also need: stitch markers, just under 1150 Miyuki or Toho size 6 seed beads if working as written but 950 beads if omitting them from the main body (Charts 1 & 2), 1mm crotat hook or 0.75mm crochet hook, needle (for weaving in ends), blocking pins and mats.
Gauge: Gauge is not overly important as this is a shawl but a looser gauge will result in an increase in yarn usage. However, the gauge achieved on this shawl was 25 sts to 4” before blocking and 17 sts to 4” after using 3.5mm (US4) needles over main body stitch pattern (Chart 2).
The pattern is both fully written and charted with bead placement clearly indicated throughout.
You will find it useful to print your pattern on a colour printer, however, coloured pencils could be used to highlight aspects of the pattern and bead placement.
