Past & Future
“Past & Future”
My concept for this piece revolves around Past and the Future.
I wanted to incorporate the wrap of history and wearing of the Scottish kilt before Culloden and the bright contrast for the time travel back to the 1960s.
This poncho was therefore born and if you prefer for it to remain a simple wrap then it equally works well rather than stitching it as a poncho, it again reflects the difference between historically simply wrapping cloth for clothing and the modern feel to a different century piece of clothing.
As a poncho it can be worn with the point either to the front or the back for a different look.
I have used yarn by Dandelions & Daisies, I wanted the main colour to look old and naturally weather worn and the modern contrast to be bright and bold.
Its created in DK yarn with a textured pattern which produces a slight rib effect but doesn’t pull the fabric inwards like many rib stitches.
It requires no blocking and is suitable for an intermediate beginner upwards.
I look forward to seeing your choice of colours.
