Patchwork Cardigan
A coat of many colors! This lovely Patchwork cardigan is limited only by your imagination! Use pinks and browns for spring, blues and creams for winter or your favorite team colors!
It makes a warm winter garment and a quick spring/autumn cover up for those cooler days.
A bit tricky if knit in 1 piece but can easily be knit in individual squares and sewn or crocheted together.
Video for 1 piece construction: https://youtu.be/ISsgjh90ZpE
For the child size you’ll need about 144 yards for the edging, plus 1 skien per color. For adults I’d aim for 2 skeins a color to be sure of having enough.
Instructions:
CHILD
Make 27 6” squares (5 rows of 3 for the back and 2 rows per front panels. Leave center open) Fold so the front panels are lined up with the back and sew bottom squares together leaving an arm opening of 2 squares per side. Pick up along arm opening evenly and knit for 3”, then dec 2 sts at underside (4 sts apart), then again 2 rows later. Cont. Sleeve till it measures 6” from pick up.
Switch to smaller needles and work a bottom border, cuffs and button band.
ADULT
As for child but with 8” squares
Enjoy!
