Sock Yarn Scrap Blankets are one of my absolute favorite things to see when I scroll through Instagram. Such unique and personal works of art! I was so tempted to start my own, but couldn’t quite commit to a mitered square blanket. Enter the pinwheel square! I totally fell in love with these modular slices and browsed through many different pattern versions. That is to say, I am not by any means claiming this idea as my own. This is simply a different variation that I came up with that creates a very crisp and more reversible block while minimizing construction fiddly-ness. The squares are formed by knitting individual wedges in garter stitch on the bias, using German short rows. Each consecutive section is knit directly on to the remaining live stitches - no picking up required! I include a photo tutorial on a simple, reversible way to bind of your squares, as well as an in-depth video tutorial showing my very favorite joining method! A fun-yet-mindless long term project, each colorful square is it’s own mini finished object. Perfect for taking on the go! <3
