Pathway Beanie
Happy New Year!!! The Pathway Beanie is the perfect first release of the year for me. Life is all about the path we choose to follow, I have chosen my path and this Beanie is a celebration of that.
This beanie pattern calls for Bulky #5 yarn and a K or L Hooks (depending on size). The Pathway Beanie works up super quick, with a lot of attractive texture. I would call it a beginner advanced pattern, it is pretty beginner friendly, but you need to know basic crochet stitches.
I have written this pattern with detailed instructions for sizes 0-3 months through Extra Large adult, and it can be made with or without a pom pom. It also requires less than a skein of yarn for most brands.
GAUGE for this pattern is as follows:
Brim Gauge—K HOOK- 6 brim rows = 2 inches
Body Gauge—K HOOK-Just under 6 stitches and 4 rows = 2 inches
Brim Gauge—L HOOK-6 brim rows = 2 and ½ inches Body Gauge—L HOOK-5 stitches and just under 4 rows = 2 inches
This pattern was tested with various yarns, and the gauge was met, but with a yarn like Barcelona it is thinner and lacier, so maybe not the best for colder climates.
Some of the yarns used during testing:
-
Stitch Studio by Nicole Earthtone Bulky
-
Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Tonal
-
Loops and Threads, Charisma
-
Red Heart, Hygge
