Patricia Ruana
The Patricia Ruana was named for my mother. As I created this red ruana, I had Mom in mind. For Mother’s Day, I sent some pretty blue yarn and the pattern. As Mom will tell you, her gifts come with “assembly required,” and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now for more about the ruana……. Do you want to throw something on that is lighter than a sweater, but stays on better that a shawl? A ruana is the answer. And pretty easy to make. This is basically and K7, P7 rib, with lace in the K7 section. The lace is only an 8-row pattern and all of the WS rows are P7, K7.
You will want to use a fingering weight or light DK yarn. There are 3 sizes:
Sm / Med - 38-1/2” across and 24” from shoulder, uses 1700 yds
Lg / ex-large - 40-1/2” across and 26” from shoulder, uses 1900 yds
2x / 3x - 43-1/2” across and 29” from shoulder, uses 2400
Hope that you have fun with this.
