Pattern 1: Plain Inspired
This pattern for a pair of plain gloves is a good starting point for a beginner glove knitted. The pattern specifies a yarn that has a lot of life but other similar weight yarns could be substituted.
Note that the left and right gloves are the same as the thumb is placed on the side of the hand.
Materials
- Blacker Yarns, Tamar Lustre Blend 4-ply, 100% British wool, 100g skein, 350m/380yrds/100g, colour Tiddy Brook lemon green, 1 skein. Finished gloves weigh 56g and use approx. 195m/209yrds.
- Needles suitable for working in the round: 3mm for stocking stitch, 2.75mm for ribbing (optional), or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stitch markers
- Smooth, strong thread in a contrasting color or stitch holders for holding stitches
- Wool sewing needle and scissors for finishing
Finished measurements
To fit a medium adult hand. Length 28cm/11”. All around above thumb: 18cm/7”
