A common complexity in lace are patterns that increase or decrease on one row but delay restoring the stitch count until later rows. This exercise allows you to become familiar with this technique and also extends your chart-reading skills with some new chart conventions that are required to show the changing stitch count (instructions are also fully written out for those who prefer this).
