This is a detailed pattern for a Trivet, Hot Pad, Placemat - what ever you need it for.

The finished size is approximately 32cm in diameter.

The pattern uses the tapestry crochet technique and requires 2 colours to be in constant use - there are lots of colour changes in most of the rounds, but this has been detailed clearly in each step, with a photo of each completed round.

There is a choice to create a single layer placemat, or add a backing to make it more appropriate for hot pans.

The yarn used was James C Brett 100% cotton.

Pattern is all in UK terms, and uses the half treble crochet stitch.
