Pattypan Squash
The Pattypan Squash is the first pattern in the Farmer’s Market series. It includes directions to make the vine and leaves, too, so children can place the squash in the “garden” on the vine and then pick them! Teach children about healthy eating by making them a variety of toy vegetables and fruit to play with.
Gauge is not important in this pattern--use different yarns and different size hooks to make squash that are a little larger or smaller, just like real garden-grown squash! I used a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn, and my squash are about 4 inches across.
I used washable acrylic yarns from my stash, including Red Heart Super Saver. You can use any worsted weight yarn you choose. I am going to try using 100% wool yarn, stuff them with raw wool fleece, then felt them!
If you have any difficulty, find any errors, want to comment, please write to me on Ravelry, on my blog, or on Facebook. Please show some ~Love~ here on Ravelry and add the pattern to your Favourites, and link your project to my design. Feel free to post photos to my Facebook page, too, and watch there for new Farmers Market Food, Totes, Tops, & Hat patterns!
