Have you ever wondered what makes the peacock’s feathers so brilliant? There are tiny crystal-like structures, which reflect different wavelengths of light depending on how they’re spaced, resulting in brilliant colors. This gorgeous Wooly Wonka yarn has similar crystalline quality, shimmering and sparkling with every movement.

Inspired by the yarn color and designed to emulate peacock’s feathers, Pava (Latin, meaning ‘peacock’) is my classic top-down short row crescent shawl with a bit of garter stitch texture added to the large-scale lace. Thanks to the garter stitch, the short rows wraps can be left in place, unworked, hidden within the texture. Although there are beads added throughout (500 6/0 4.00mm seed beads), this pattern is easy enough even for a novice lace knitter because it includes only basic stitches, the wrong side rows are simply purled, and the beads are optional.
