Beautiful shawl for experienced knitters. Will add to your R library upon request (via chatform on my website).
Techniques: flat and in the round knitting, short rows and modular.
You will need:
Circular needles 4.0mm wide with the wire long enough to hold 120sts.
5 skeins of fingering-weight yarn (400m/100g): 2 skeins of self-striping for the feathers, 1 skein of contrasting color for the contour (can be light or dark, depends on your self striping colors), 1 skein of solid or semi-solid for the feather tips, and 1 skein of self striping for the “eyes”. The for semi-circular shawl, you’ll need to make at least 12 feathers, but that amount of yarn should be enough for 12-14 feathers.
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 22 sts by 28 rows in garter.
Size: with 12 feathers, blocked: half-circle, 2.20m wingspan with 80cm drop.
