Peablossom Special
Inspired by the beautiful yarns of two Maryland Based Dyers: AT Haynes House Yarns and Passion Knits Yarn. Their creativity inspires mine; I am grateful for them.
Fiber festivals are amazing, magical spaces. I love colorful, indie small batch yarns. I LOVE meeting the dyers, talking about their favorite projects, about HOW they got into dying. I love getting to know a little about the person behind the yarn. I follow a lot of yarn mavens on social media, and connecting in-person is so special to me. This shawl is both an ode to the dyers of yarn and the festivals where I can meet these awesomely creative individuals.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting the hands behind the yarns for both of the yarns used in this shawl at multiple Frederick Fiber Festivals recently. They are wonderful people, and I’m excited to boost them and showcase their work.
Worked in 3 sections, this huge asymmetric V-shaped shawl starts with an incomplete, high contrast, garter and eyelet, mitered square, and is then flanked by lacy sections sporting a garter stitch border. Run amuck with color selection if you dare, or play it safe with a single color construction.
