I love the look of a simple colorwork pattern, but as someone with small hands, but long fingers, many mitten patterns didn’t fit me well. It was out of this desire that these mittens were born. I decided to make them two sizes, one for my size (small) and one size up (medium). If you have larger hands you can go up 1-2 needle sizes to get a bigger mitten. If using a non-superwash wool, they will look good at that gauge as well.

The thumb is an afterthought thumb, worked with waste yarn.

Yarns used:

191-275 yards MC and 191-275 yards of CC fingering weight yarn (Mittens used Rauma Finull PT2 in 4125 Gold Heather (MC) and 401 Natural (CC), mitts used Brooklyn Tweed Loft in Woodsmoke (MC) and Tartan (CC)

The sample mitten (gold and cream) were knit size small, and the sample mitt (tan and blue) were knit size medium.

Small (Medium)
7.25 (7.75)” hand circumference to fit with 0.25” negative ease.
5 (5.5)” base of thumb to finger tips
