One of my first and fondest fall memories was the annual family road trip to Tupelo Mississippi to visit family. We would all sit on the screen porch and crack and pick pecans from my Aunt Les’ pecan tree late into the night. My dad would wait all year for this trip, just to take his first bite of Aunt Les’ pecan pie. It was the first sure sign that fall was here.
