Pedagogy Learning Scarf
The idea with this scarf was to teach my sister to knit and to motivate her to enjoy knitting. I have personally gotten so much pleasure out of knitting and I wished to share this experience with my dearest little sister and all other new knitters out there. The word pedagogy comes from the Ancient Greek word παιδαγωγέω (paidagōgeō) and can be translated into: “to lead the child”. My sister is a pædagog| pedagogue in Denmark and in Danish this means an educator; mainly, but not exclusively, in kindergartens.
The pattern is a true beginners pattern in English and Danish taking you on a very detailed tour through the basic knit and purl stitches using both the English and the Continental styles of knitting. Check out my FREE Youtube videos for this:
- How to knit Continental and English style
- How to purl Continental and English style
- Strikke How-to på dansk: Strikke Engelsk og Continental stil
- Strikke how-to på dansk: vrangstrik med Engelsk og Continental stil
I would love to hear from complete beginners how they liked this pattern. The testers have all been more advanced knitters and even they learned something new. If you would like to take your knitting further and learn how to do textured knitting or lace knitting this pattern is also for you. Step by step through 16 sections it teaches you to work more and more complex knitting stitches.
I would love to see your projects on my Facebook page or Instagram too.
Please use the group, Eddie’s Room to ask questions about the pattern.
Yarn: Any DK weight yarn (appropriate for 4mm / US 6 needles), approx. 150-200g depending on desired length.
