Who is that little bug friend scurrying this way? It’s a crocheted version of everyone’s favorite transforming bug, the Pill Bug, aka Roly Poly, aka Doodlebug, aka Potato Bug. What ever you call them where you are from, one thing is certain, this bug is adorable!

Peekaboo Pals Pill Bug is a crocheted toy Roly Poly that actually transforms! This pattern includes loads of color photos & infographics to walk you though construction, and also has a link to a video showing the sewing process and how to transform your Pill Bug. When made with Premier Basix Chenille yarn, this plush toy measures approx 7.5 inches (antennae included).

Materials:

Approx. 35 yds blanket/chenille yarn in
main color/dark gray (I used Premier
Basix Chenille in Pewter)

Approx 25 yds blanket/chenille yarn in
alternate color/light gray (I used Premier
Basix Chenille in Fog)

1 yd pink blanket/chenille yarn (for rosy
cheeks)

18 inches black worsted weight yarn (for
mouth)

Black sewing thread/embroidery floss for
mouth (optional)

2 - 12mm black felt eyes (or safety eyes)

6.5mm crochet hook (or appropriate hook for your yarn)

Poly-fil or stuffing material of choice

Yarn needle

Scissors

Stitch markers
