Peepers
Peepers gives hand painted yarns an undulating and pleasing effect. Both the short and long version begin with foundation half double crochet (fhdc) and use chain stitch, single, double and treble crochet with a three row repeat. By working in the round and turning your work the cowl becomes reversible. The Sawtooth Border is optional and is worked along the cast on edge. The other edge is already decorative and needs no further embellishment thanks to the pattern stitch.
Peepers can be worked in two sizes:
- Short version is 26” around by 9.5” deep
- Long version is 42” around by 6” deep
Gauge
18 fhdc (foundation half double crochet) and 7.5 rows = 4 inches
Most DK weight yarns will work well for this pattern, especially hand painted yarns. Because this is a cowl and doesn’t need to necessarily
“fit” you can size this according to your needs by simply adjusting the pattern repeats.
