Pelagic Shawl
Get the full issue for $8.99.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of the northern European landscapes and Baltic Sea coast, where designer Susanna IC spent summers as a child, the triangular Pelagic Shawl is worked in one piece, starting at the narrowest point and growing to the opposite wide end. Cushy garter-stitch stripes are framed by a textured slip-stitch colorwork pattern along two edges.

NOTES
-
This triangular shawl is worked back and forth in rows from one narrow end to the opposite wide end.
-
Do not break the yarn at color changes in each 20-row section. Carry the unused color up the side of the work until it is needed again. Bring the new color under the color just used.
-
To avoid puckering the stitches in the colorwork pattern, be careful not to work the slip-stitch floats too tightly; spread the work out on the right needle to add a bit of slack.
-
A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
