Wind and waves sculpt the beach and dunes in a constant and never ending renewal process. The constant give and take is an ancient rhythm as old as time, but unfortunately at the mercy of man’s whims to develop every inch of beach front property.

I live close to Pelican Beach and others like it, that are fortunately protected from development, due to the foresight of past generations that made sure that a portion our beach lands were taken out of the equation.

This cowl uses sculptural ribs and cables reminiscent of the ripples and rivulets made in the sand by wind and water. Shifting sand leaves behind interesting textures to remind us of the transient nature of the work of these forces. The cables are easy to remember, but challenging enough to keep you engaged.

The warmth it provides during cooler weather or as a barrier to frigid breezes in air- conditioning at the height of summer can call to mind in an instant the shifting sands that you remember from your time at the shore.
