Hi there, on recent trip to the island Cay Santa Maria
I developed the habit of going for early morning walks along the beach to catch sunrise. While walking, I observed the stunning “fishing expeditions” of the native Pelicans. Starting well above water level they would dive very steeply and gracefully into the water looking for breakfast. This thrilling spectacle inspired me so much that I decided to re-create these activities with my shawl “Pelicans & Pearls”.

The first version of the pattern “Pelicans & Pearls Shawl” has been updated and test knitted again in November 2022.
The new pattern features:

• Easy to read charts and Schematic
• The pattern is both fully written and charted with bead placement clearly indicated. There will also be suggestions for the bind off options, including a picot bind off method (version of the pattern in English).
• The pattern is charted, with the sequins of the pattern repeat being written out. There will also be suggestions for the bind off options, including a picot bind off method (version of the pattern in Russian).

RECOMMENDED YARN: Any yarn that can be blocked is suitable for this project. The pictured shawl was knit from silk, linen, mohair, wool and wool mixes with good results; this shawl looks great in both solid or gradient colors, either lace or light fingering weight yarn.

This shawl is knitted from the top down and formed by two triangles separated by a center stitch. The size of the shawl is easy to adapt according to the included customization notes.

Finished size may vary depending on your yarn choice, needle size, knitting tension and personal knitting habits. The total number of repeats chosen will also change the size of the shawl.

SAMPLE SHAWL
SIZE: sample shawl shown in size: Length across the top edge: 214 cm / 84”; Depth: 105 cm / 41”.
YARN: shawl shown was knit with 67 g of light fingering weight ICE Glitz, 70% mohair, 20% polyamide/Nylon, 10% metallic – 1,008 y (922 m) | 100 g one skein = 252 y (230.4 m) | 25 g; color –teal. Yardage used: 675 y (618 m).
BEADS: size 6, 440 pcs | 34 g. NUPPS: 436 pcs | 9.6 g | 97 y (89 m).
GAUGE: 18 sts x 18 rows = 10 cm (4”), square in stockinette st, measured after wet blocking.
NEEDLES AND CROCHET HOOKS: Circular needles US 1.5 / 2.5 mm, 80 cm / 32” and US 2.5 / 3.0 mm, 80 cm / 32” for the edge panel. Crochet hooks 0.6 mm – for placing the beads and 2.5 mm for binding off the edge.
MATERIALS: Tapestry needle to weave in the ends; blocking pins and / or blocking wires; stitch markers –optional.

Находясь значительно выше уровня воды, они в миг очень круто и изящно падали в воду, в поисках рыбы на завтрак. Это захватывающее зрелище вдохновило меня и я решила воплотить увиденное в моей новой бирюзовой в тон с океаном шали «Пеликаны и жемчуг».

РЕКОМЕНДОВАННАЯ ПРЯЖА: Для этой шали вы можете использовать пряжу, которая хорошо драпируется и полотно хорошо держит форму: шелк, лен, мохер, шерсть и полушерстяная пряжа. Для данной шали подойдет однотонная или градиентная тонкая пряжа, как толщиной 550 м на 100 г, так и 922 м на 100 г.

Эта треугольная шаль вяжется сверху вниз от середины верхней кромки. Тело шали состоит из двух треугольников, разделенных центральной петлей. Размер шали легко адаптировать в соответствии с перечнем рекомендаций, приведенных в инструкции.

Размер шали может варьироваться в зависимости от выбранной пряжи и размера спиц, а также от плотности вязания. Также на размер повлияет то, сколько повторов узора вы решите делать. Помните, что в этом случае вам понадобится больше или меньше пряжи для завершения проекта.

РАЗМЕР: Данная инструкция представлена для варианта шали показанной на стр.1 и 3, размер: Верхняя кромка: 214 см; Размер шали по высоте: 105 см, после блокировки.
ПРЯЖА: шаль связана из смесовой пряжи (мохер + шелк) ICE Glitz, 70% мохер, 20% нейлон, 10% люрекс, метраж – 922 м | 100 г 1 моток = 252 yards (230.4 м) | 25 г, цвет – серо-голубой. Расход пряжи: 65 г (599 м).
БИСЕР: размер 6: 440 штук | 34 г. «ШИШЕЧКИ»: 436 шт | 9.6 г | 89 m.
ПЛОТНОСТЬ: 18 п x 18 рядов = 10 cm х 10 см, после блокировки – образец связан чулочной вязкой.
СПИЦЫ И КРЮЧОК: круговые спицы толщиной 2.5 мм и 3.0 мм для вязания каймы (Схема 4), длина лески 80 см. Крючок 0.6 мм для бисера и 2.5 мм для закрытия петель.
