Abbreviations:

MR – Magic Ring
HDC – Half Double Crochet
INC – Increase
DEC – Decrease
FO – Fasten Off
ST(S) – Stitch(es)
CH – Chain

Notes:

  • The yarn used is just a suggestion based on what I personally use.
  • This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral unless otherwise stated (do not join rounds).
  • Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the beginning of a round. Change your yarn always in the last step of the last HDC.
  • When the pattern states MR, x SC”, this means to make a magic ring, then add x amount of said stitches into it.Slowly hot glue pieces together. You do not want hot glue stuck to your yarn in places it shouldn’t be. Slow and Steady wins the race.
  • If you have any concerns, questions, or corrections, please feel free to email me at MinasMakings@gmail.com.

The glued lid rim will start at the borderline of tan and yellow.
Notice how much “over-hang” of the lip that WILL NOT be hot glued to the jar lid. (picture example #4)

Slip the jar sleeve over the glass part of your jar. You can put a couple dots of hot glue around the top of the sleeve to glue it to the jar. I chose not to do that, so I can easily take out and wash/replace my jar if needed.

I super glued my lid to the ring of my jar. This is only necessary if you have a lid where the ring comes off the flat part of the lid, like picture example #3.

Stuff poly-fil into the top of the pencil. You don’t want it too full. You want just enough to give it shape, but to still be flexible when pushing on it to open the jar.

Doing little sections at a time, put some hot glue on the rim of the lid and slowly place the ‘lip’ of the pencil around it. (As seen in picture)

Congratulations! Your Pencil Stash Jar is done!
