The Pendant Purls Scarf uses stitch patterns from the Japanese book 1000 Knitting Patterns Book (and Crochet). Knitting was introduced to Japan in the 19th century from European knitters and I found several variations of the stitch patterns used in the scarf in other European and North American stitch pattern books.
The scarf is worked from the middle out to the end borders, and starts with a crocheted provisional cast-on. After the first half of the scarf is completed, the provisional cast-on is unraveled, the live stitches picked up onto your needle, ready for working the second half of the scarf.
A Mock Lace Cable pattern on the scarf edges border the center panel of triangular purl shapes edged with lace. Each purl section is shaped like a ‘pendant’ which is strung from the above ‘V’ of lace.
Pattern was professionally tech edited by Robin Melanson.
NOTE: Provenance Knit patterns use charts.
